Although the paperwork indicates a “date of change” listed as June 6, 2023, the update was only recently disclosed to the public. Coincidentally, this alteration coincided with the announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had “vacated” Frogmore Cottage, their former U.K. residence situated in Windsor. This transition occurred around five months earlier, after a spokesperson for the couple confirmed their departure from the residence, following a request to vacate in March 2023.

Having initially settled in the two-bedroom Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, the couple later moved to the more spacious Frogmore Cottage before the birth of their son, Prince Archie, in May 2019. However, following their decision to step back from their royal roles, they covered the taxpayer-funded renovations of Frogmore Cottage, originally supported by the Sovereign Grant, entirely out of their own funds.

Subsequently, Meghan and Prince Harry spent time in Vancouver Island and Tyler Perry’s Los Angeles residence before acquiring a home in the Montecito neighborhood of Santa Barbara in the summer of 2020. It was in this new abode where their daughter, Princess Lilibet, was born in June 2021.

Despite their relocation, Frogmore Cottage continued to serve as a base during the couple’s visits to the U.K. Notably, they stayed at the residence with both children in June 2022 during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee festivities and celebrated Lili’s first birthday with a backyard party there. Furthermore, Prince Harry stayed at Frogmore Cottage when he traveled to London for legal proceedings against Mirror Group Newspapers.
