Coco Lee Do You Want My Love

Coco lee was the first Chinese singer to break into the American market. Her English single Do You Want My Love received international attention, appearing on the US Billboard Hot Dance Breakouts chart at No 4 and entering the top 50 of the US Billboard Dance Club Play chart and the Australian Singles Chart.

Lee performed “A Love Before Time” from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon at the 73rd Academy Awards, becoming the first Chinese American to perform at the Academy Awards.

She was also the first Chinese American singer to sing at the NBA games, the first Asian to have concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the first Chinese ambassador for Chanel.

Coco Lee Marriage

Lee recorded the song For her wedding, I Just Wanna Marry U in Chinese and English version, which was released on 24 October 2011.

She married Hong Kong-based Canadian businessman Bruce Rockowitz on 27 October 2011 in Hong Kong in a Jewish ceremony. The wedding included performances by Bruno Mars, Alicia Keys, and Ne-Yo.

Children and Divorce

She had no biological children but had two adult stepdaughters from her husband’s previous marriage. Bruce was blamed by some for allegedly cheating on Lee.

There were reports saying that Lee and her husband had been separated for over two years before she died, and that they were due to sign the divorce papers in July 2023.

A long battle with depression

Coco’s two sisters, Carol and Nancy Lee, announced her death on Facebook on Wednesday.

Although Coco sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her, the statement said. On 2 July 2023, she committed suicide at home and was sent to the hospital.

Ferren Coco Lee was cremated on Tuesday, her body carried out of the funeral facility by eight of her closest friends and colleagues.
